These are valves which are fitted under the
sink or bath, or other area to provide a set temperature
of water.
They are a safety feature where children or
the elderly may scald themselves.
For higher risk environments such as hospitals
and nursing homes a TMV3 is required to be installed.
In domestic environments, hotels and housing
associations the TMV2 is required.
However, please be aware
that blending valves are designed for equal supply
pressures and are likely to perform poorly with
unbalanced hot and cold water pressures.
To overcome this an unvented hot water system
should be installed.
For further information go

Manufacturers Association, the official website
for blending valves.
