Every year about 30 people
due from carbon monoxide poisoning and we see
stories in the newspapers regularly. This
poison is often caused by ill-maintained gas
appliances and flues which have not been properly
installed or not looked after regularly.
Good ventilation is always
required where gas, oil or LPG appliances are
operating to stop this poisonous gas from building
up.
You cannot see carbon monoxide, you cannot smell
it or taste it but it can KILL in a matter of
hours.
To reduce your risk we recommend
Your gas appliance is serviced
annually
You ensure you have adequate
ventilation, your gas engineer will advise
you at the time of service.
Never install second
hand appliances
Never try to carry out maintenance
yourself.
In addition, we offer all our customers a carbon
monoxide monitor which can be either fixed near
the gas appliance or moved around the house to
be near whichever appliance is operating.
